The Sofreh Aghd was placed outside with the backdrop of magnificent Lake Tahoe mountain and lake views, and it served as the centerpiece of Persian wedding ceremony. This beautifully decorated spread included symbolic items that represented various blessings for the couple. Key components included a mirror and candles, holy book, nuts and dried fruits, and delicious Persian cookies, which family shared with after the ceremony.
During Persian wedding ceremony the wedding party held a cloth above the couple’s heads, and the bridesmaids ground cones of hard-packed sugar onto the cloth, symbolizing sweet blessings raining down on the couple. To conclude the ceremony Parsa and Jessica dipped their fingers in honey before feeding it to each other, to signify their commitment to sustaining each other and the sweetness of their lives together.
